I recently won an xbox 360 (this is a first; I was in shock at winning something like this). But, I am not a gamer. My nephew is – I would like to get him into programming. So what to do? I searched my local library and they had this new book: “XNA 3.1 Game Develeopment” by Jerry Lee Ford; so I am reading it now. I have some programming background. I like the visual studio environment. XNA 3.1 game development uses C# which is an object-oriented programming language or OOPS (especially in my case). I have recently been bit by the programming bug (poor use of terms) and now I win this xbox. I do not intend to buy a game for my xbox – no, I want to learn how to program my own game. Perhaps I can get my skills up to speed quickly – just in time for kinect to become available just before the upcoming holiday season! Kinect may become hot – as you control the game thru body movement without any controller – no other gaming system does this currently – not even the fantastic wii. And did you know that there have been approx 30 million xbox 360′s sold worldwide? The gaming industry generates larger overall revenue than hollywood movie making these days – that’s saying something!
